Mark E. Heckathorn

Mark is a seasoned journalist and website designer.

He has written and edited for several daily newspapers in Pennsylvania ranging in circulation from 21,000 to 125,000 including The (Sharon, PA) Herald, the (Chambersburg, PA) Public Opinion, the Lebanon (PA) Daily News and the (Harrisburg, PA) Patriot-News. He has also written for and edited business-to-business publications from Energy Intelligence Group, the McGraw-Hill Cos.' Platts energy division and Thompson Publishing Group since moving to Washington, DC. Mark is currently the executive editor and COO of DC on Heels, an online lifestyle magazine covering the metro Washington area. He edits the site, mantains the WordPress infrastructure, writes and directs the site's editorial staff.

Mark has experience in both hard news and feature writing, multimedia news production and social media, and has repored on a wide range of topics from energy and education to national politics and pop culture. He is a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University's journalism program with a focus on print journalism and has a masters degree in Interactive Journalism focusing on web design and online storytelling from American University in Washington, DC.
